Ben Affleck takes a break to celebrate Thanksgiving with his kids.

The Oscar winner is currently in the middle of filming his upcoming film REST IN PEACE with pal Matt Damon, who was spotted on set in Los Angeles earlier this week.

A source tells PEOPLE, “He’s very happy with life. He likes to work. He’s going to spend Thanksgiving with his kids.”

Affleck and Damon are also producers of the crime thriller REST IN PEACEwhich was also filmed in New Jersey and also stars Teyana Taylor and The lightningThis is Sasha Calle.

A set insider says Affleck was “in great spirits and great fun to work with.”

“They (Affleck and Damon) are a great team. You can tell that they enjoy working together. Ben looks great too. He seems to be doing well,” says the insider.

Affleck, 52, has three children with ex-wife Jennifer Garner: Violet, who turns 19 on December 1, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12. On Wednesday, November 27, Garner, 52, announced that their family dog, Birdie, died shortly after Violet returned home from college for the holidays.

“The vet told us that dogs often hold out until their humans get home from college, and we think Birdie did just that so we could pet her soft ears together and thank her for being the best dog in the world,” the actress wrote on Instagram.

This is Affleck’s first Thanksgiving since Jennifer Lopez filed for divorce in August. The date of separation was given as April 26, after less than two years of marriage.

Lopez, 55, is mother to 16-year-old twins Max and Emme with her ex-husband Marc Anthony. A source said in August that the Unstoppable The actress is still “particularly close” to Affleck’s children, while he “hasn’t had any contact with her children.” The couple’s divorce is not yet finalized.

A source said in early August that Affleck’s rekindling of his decades-old romance with Lopez ahead of their wedding in 2022 helped him “become a family man again.” This source added: “Family is very important to both of them and together they were family people – and the connection never ends.”

When Lopez spoke to PEOPLE earlier this month about JLo Beauty launching a line of sets for the holidays, she explained why she enjoys the holiday season with her loved ones. “We don’t see each other throughout the year, so we catch up on what everyone is doing and what life is like. It’s just a nice time. I really enjoy it.”

“It’s been a pretty busy year for me and I’m most looking forward to spending time with my kids and family who are from the East Coast,” she added.

“The holidays are a very special time for us, and always have been since I was a little girl. And I really look forward to the moments when I can be with my sisters and just relax, have fun and create new memories.”
