On the Got It From My Momma podcast, Ilona Maher’s mother, Mieneke Maher, offered her insights into the Paris bronze medalist’s dancing skills. She jokingly cited a childhood ballet class as the supposed reason her daughter probably did so well on “Dancing With The Stars.” “I thought the six-week ballet class I gave her when she was four must have helped. That’s what it did,” Mieneke laughed.

As it turned out, Ilona Maher took these classes as a toddler but had little interest in them. The real reason, as her mother confessed, was “And I think that was mostly because I wanted to buy, you know, pink little tights and some pink, you know, onesies, and little, cute little ballet shoes.” However, this does not exclude the fact that Ilona Maher’s graphics were outstanding in the show.

After watching her performances throughout the season, Mieneke’s praise for her daughter on the podcast knew no bounds. She said: “I’m just, and I can’t even put into words how brave and incredible and how courageous I think it is that you (Ilona), as a rugby player, have trained your body to be that muscle to go forward and run so fast you can and no one stands in your way and you are very controlled and powerful and have the courage, yes, I guess, to go on a national live television program to dance. I think that’s incredible.”

And two of them, Pretty Little Liars star Chandler Kinney and Joey Graziadei, were the most technically sophisticated dancers this season. Kinney in particular has previous dance experience and has been dancing since she was nine years old. So to beat them, Maher would have to do something extraordinary on stage.

But Ilona Maher also has a few advantages on her side. For one thing, she has a huge following on social media because the show and its authenticity have made her a fan sensation. Additionally, we have seen her skills improve drastically, scoring her first 10 points recently in the 500th episode. So she is an outsider, but she is far from out of the race and can definitely secure the trophy. Who do you think will emerge victorious in the final? Let us know!
