Arne Slot: “Real Madrid always finds different ways to win”

Liverpool coach Arne Slot spoke about Real Madrid’s ability to find ways to win games as his team prepared for Wednesday’s big game.

Real Madrid is no stranger to the Champions League remontantbut neither does Liverpool. This truly is a clash between two European heavyweights that inevitably has a lot to offer.

Slot spoke with great respect about Madrid, especially that they find different ways to win football games.

He said: “We can take examples from Real Madrid, they find different ways to win.” Even though we might be lucky to be a goal or two ahead, I think all of us at Real Madrid are a little bit feel more than other clubs we compete against (that they can come back). Do they have more “aura”? You could do it. I can’t speak for all the other teams I played against. I always said to former clubs that we should follow Madrid’s example because they always find a way to win.”

He spoke about Real Madrid’s two frontmen, Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr. – particularly the latter, who was recently injured in a game against Leganes.

“Mbappe has always shown his quality and it is very difficult to play against him,” he said. “He is one of the best players football has today.

“We are approaching it differently (with Vinicius not playing) because a new player will be playing for them. We have to expect something different. He has played almost every game for them, but it is quite difficult for us to understand what to expect.”

Slot also gave an update on the injury to Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is in the squad for the game against Real Madrid.

“Trent Alexander-Arnold is in the squad for the game against Real Madrid, but is not available for the starting eleven,” said Slot. “He might be able to do a few minutes, in an ideal world he wouldn’t be able to do that.”
