An error by Clay Martin’s refereeing team marred the Kansas City Chiefs’ Black Friday game against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 13.

When Las Vegas punted against Kansas City midway through the first quarter, the officials indicated that the Chiefs had called a holding penalty.

The perfectly placed punt, which went out of bounds at the one-yard line, appeared to pin Kansas City deep in its own territory.

Ultimately, the penalty was called against Las Vegas and the Chiefs gained possession at the Raiders’ 23-yard line.

Veteran Kansas City Star sports columnist Vahe Gregorian explained what happened in a post on Twitter:

Stay tuned to see if Martin’s team makes another mistake in the Chiefs’ game against Las Vegas.
