Trey’s death was not an accident Accused Season 2, Episode 6. His current wife, Jordan, was responsible for his death. During their marriage, Trey not only abused Val, but also Jordan.

Val is initially angry at Jordan for being responsible for her trial. However, she later understands her situation and realizes that Jordan, like her, was a victim of Trey’s abuse and only acted out of desperation.

Val decides to protect Jordan, not only for her sake, but also for Oliver, who loves his stepmother. After Jordan confesses to the murder and awaits trial, Val devises a clever plan to keep her out of prison, knowing Jordan’s actions were a form of self-defense against an abusive man.

Val meets with the prosecutor and threatens to testify that she killed Trey even though she has already been acquitted. Because of the double jeopardy rule, Val cannot be tried again for Trey’s murder, no matter what she says.

This creates a legal mess for the prosecutor’s office. They realize that continuing the case against Jordan would be complicated and decide to drop all charges. At the end of the episode, both women are free. They bond over their shared trauma and focus on giving Oliver a loving home.
