Codenames are known to be used throughout the development of entertainment projects to prevent leaks and provide production teams with a clear point of reference.

What wasn’t so well known was that Marvel used some codenames that were linked to Netflix’s Stranger Things when manufacturing Deadpool and Wolverine.

Deadpool and Wolverine recently debuted on Disney+ and became the most-watched live-action film.

With the release of the script from Marvel itself, we were able to take a look behind the scenes.

In this document we can see some of the big cameo appearances Deadpool and Wolverine became known were hidden behind it Stranger Things Character names.

To give you an idea of how these names worked: Elektra was known as Eleven, Blade was called Billy, and Johnny Storm was in the script as Jonathon Byers.

It makes a lot of sense as Shawn Levy, director of Deadpool and Wolverineis an executive producer at Stranger Things.

His production company is heavily involved in the Netflix hit and he even directed some episodes of the series.

This bit of information was discussed on Reddit, where fans were both shocked and impressed.

One Redditor commented his surprise that “Deadpool never called Cassandra Eleven.”

To be fair, as you read through the pages you can pretty clearly see which character is behind each name.

I’m not sure what other Marvel characters would “go down in flames,” but it’s a nice touch.

Most of the comments revolve around how they didn’t really hide Henry Cavill’s take on Wolverine.

One user points out: “‘Loads his Arms Mission Impossible Style’ (…) doesn’t leave much to the imagination.”

This of course refers to the scene in Mission Impossible – Fallout where Cavill shakes his muscles and looks like he’s “recharging” his powers.

One wonders what other films have used cute code names in this way. Maybe we’ll get more when Levy comes back Deadpool 4.
