Thanksgiving Day in these areas carries a little more weight for some of our communities, particularly Catasauqua and Northampton. The annual rivalry football game will be held for the 101st time Thursday morning in Northampton.

The K-Kids are looking for their tenth consecutive win in the series. John Toman’s squad – coming off a 5-5 regular season and a District 11 playoff appearance. Despite a first-round loss to Freedom, Northampton’s seniors still have a chance to win.

“We love it. We live for this every year,” senior Braiden Faust said. “It’s a great tradition. I’ve been here for three years. Last year was the 100th year. It’s great. It’s great that we’re still doing it. I love it.”

It was a strong start to the season for Catty (3-0), only for the Roughies to suffer seven defeats in a row in the final stages.

Joe Henrich, who led the program in his first year, used the season and these additional practices to develop his children.

“It was tough in the end, there’s no doubt about it,” Henrich said. “We had some games towards the end where we weren’t quite as good, but we just couldn’t quite get through them. I really have to give credit to the kids, everything you could ask for.

Kickoff is scheduled for 10 a.m. Thanksgiving morning at Al Erdosy Stadium.
