4Weather warn – As we approach the holiday weekend, more data confirms what will happen in the coming days, but some minor uncertainties remain.

For the rest of this Wednesday we may stick to clouds with a drop or two or two, but most, if not all, should be dry. For some of us, that may change this evening.

Later tonight, a system that passes primarily to our south will move very close to us and could hit us with a light rain/snow mix.

Most of the action and major impact remains to our south, but for us it will be close. We believe there is a possibility of a light rain/snow mix, particularly Thursday night and into the early morning hours.

thanksgiving

When we wake up on Thanksgiving Day, most of us should be dry, but there could still be a light rain/snow mix.

However, this will leave the area and we are expected to dry out for most of Thursday. It will be cool on Thanksgiving, with maximum temperatures barely rising to 40 degrees.

For those heading downtown for any festivities on Thursday, the earlier you go, the better chance you have of encountering a few drops or flakes. However, the impact is likely to be quite small.

We have a better chance of stronger weather late Thursday evening and Friday morning as lake effect snow showers develop.

We could even see some stronger bands, perhaps a few snow squalls, which could lead to rapid accumulation of snow and reduced visibility.

Friday

This will continue throughout the day Friday and by the time we reach sunset Friday we could see about an inch of snow, mostly west of US 23.

weekend

This weekend will be similar to Friday, but the chance of snow will decrease each day. However, you should expect a few snow showers every day.

Even early next week there could be a few more flakes flying, but since the current in the Great Lakes isn’t nearly as strong, we don’t expect nearly as many.

The other story over the next few days is that the coldest air of the season is arriving.

Next week

After a high near 40 degrees on Thursday, high temperatures this weekend and early next week will hover around the freezing mark, which is about 10 degrees below normal for this time of year.
