Barcelona will look to end their two-game winning streak when Ligue 1 side Stade Brestois visit Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys in matchweek five of the UEFA Champions League.

Brest is one of the surprises of the UCL season so far. Despite the difficult start to Ligue 1, where they are only three points clear of the relegation places, things are very different in Europe. Brest are currently in fourth place in the UCL league stage and are yet to lose a game in the competition.

With a win, Barcelona can overtake the French and further consolidate their position among the direct qualification places. Hansi Flick’s side lost a two-goal lead in the final minutes against Celta Vigo at the weekend and are looking to get back to winning ways after a rocky last two games in La Liga.

Flick confirmed that Lamine Yamal is recovering well after his injury but will still not be available for selection. Alejandro Balde is also out with muscle problems, so Flick will be forced to find replacements for two of his regular players.

TW: Iñaki Pena—Peña will continue to be the man in goal for the Catalans and will be aiming for his first clean sheet since the Clásico at the end of October.

RB: Jules Koundé—Koundé’s glaring error opened the door for Celta Vigo’s comeback at the weekend as he will look to get back on track in the Champions League.

CB: Iñigo Martinez—Ronald Araújo has returned to training but it is still too early to play, so Martínez will keep his place at the heart of Barça’s defence.

CB: Pau Cubarsí—The teenager will partner Martínez, as they have done for most of the season.

LB: Héctor Fort—Balde’s absence is significant for Barcelona. Gerard Martín was given the nod to start at the weekend, with Fort coming on as a second-half substitute. This time Flick could do it the other way around and give the 18-year-old Fort his first career start in the UCL.

CM: Marc Casadó—Casadó was sent off against Celta and that was the start of Barcelona’s decline. He will try to recover from this and put in another solid performance in the UCL.

CM: Frenkie de Jong –Gavi made his first start of the season at the weekend and it seems unlikely that he will make two consecutive starts. The Dutch midfielder seems ready to return to the eleven.

RW: Raphinha—Raphinha continued his incredible season with another goal at the weekend. When playing from the right, he can cut inside to his preferred left foot.

AM: Pedri—Pedri has quietly re-emerged into one of Europe’s best young midfielders this season. He will play closer to the goal with de Jong and Casadó behind him.

LW: Dani Olmo— Olmo will have the freedom to move centrally, where he feels more comfortable between the opponent’s defense and the midfield lines.

ST: Robert Lewandowski—Lewandowski is just one goal away from joining Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi as the only players to score 100 goals in the Champions League.
