“Well, it’s been an incredible journey for us and I’m really proud of my team, proud of our guys. I thought we fought like crazy. You have to give Kansas credit, they had a week off, you could tell from the preparation, how ready they were to play. I thought they were the best version of what they are. Her experience is real, her talent, obviously Coach Self, man, he’s one of the best. He’s always done a great job, so a lot of respect for them and give them credit.”

“It’s easy for us, it would have been easy to get out in a game like that. The way they came out, to be honest, I thought they made some difficult throws, thought we missed a few open throws and then we just started struggling. We just kept fighting and kept fighting. We ask a lot of our 17, 18 and 19 year olds. It’s us and that’s what they want. I think the character and heart of our team really showed tonight. And as much as I desperately want to win, I think that maybe at some point I thought about whether I was crazy about the schedule of our first six games, but I did it with this group because I felt like they were goods could do with it. I felt that they were tuned in the right way, that they had a certain toughness about them and that through this game, this whole trip, playing in Arizona and then coming back and playing Kansas on a neutral site, we were going to have some growth, we will grow so much.”

“So disappointed, I really wanted to win for our guys, I really want to win, but we’re going to learn so much and get better from this.”
