The voice Coach Gwen Stefani had to make a tough decision Tuesday on the first night of the playoffs.

After watching all five remaining team members sing, she only had to choose two to advance to the final round. Her favorites: Jan Dan, who sang “Dust in the Wind” by Kansas and was one of her favorites all season, and 15-year-old Sydney Sterlace, who sang “Betty” by Taylor Swift.

Although they impressed, the election meant that incredibly talented contestants, including Jose Luis, Gabrielle Zabosky and Jake Tankersley, had to go.

At this stage of the game everyone is good. Luis especially was…wow. His rendition of Mary J. Blige’s “No More Drama” sparked a great deal of interest large Reaction of the other trainers. It’s a shame there are no more steals or, in Stefani’s case, saves.

Even host Carson Daly, who doesn’t often comment on performances, called it “playoff singing.”

Coach Snoop Dogg agreed.

“It was a playoff game at the highest level. The way you control your voice…did you make a Mary J. Blige song your song? You’re a star, man.”

A few seats away, Michael Bublé said he was “just blown away,” while fellow coach Reba McEntire said Luis’ singing was “absolutely incredible.”

Did Stefani just give another Season 26 coach a win? She said her selection was based on who really moved her and who she thought she could coach.

New dad Dan certainly did. She cried as she gave her review.

“This is a man who chooses sheet music that is so artistic and beautiful,” she said. “He is a painter with his voice. I just think you’re so cool.”

McEntire is next in the hot seat and she will be the one to whittle her team down to the two contestants she brings to the live shows.
