The Harrisburg area can expect some wet weather through and through Thanksgiving weekend, with a small chance of this precipitation turning to snow in time for Turkey Day.

The National Weather Service (NWS) seven-day forecast is currently predicting plenty of ups and downs for the week ahead. Today’s partly sunny skies and temperatures in the mid-50s will repeat on Monday before the passage of a cold front brings wind gusts and a slight chance of rain Monday night into Tuesday morning, according to the NWS.

Windy conditions will continue Wednesday with high temperatures in the mid-40s before a low pressure system moves over central Pennsylvania just in time for Thanksgiving.

“Much uncertainty remains in the forecast,” the NWS State College office wrote Sunday, but there remains a chance that winter weather could impact Thanksgiving travel.

Snow this holiday is expected to be limited to mountainous areas in the region’s north, with rain becoming more frequent as one approaches the Mason-Dixon line, State College meteorologists wrote.

Temperatures around 40°C and occasional rain or snow showers are expected to continue through Thursday and into Black Friday. Sunny skies return on Saturday, albeit with colder temperatures as highs drop to over 30°C.
